Thursday, August 26, 2021, IIBA Brussels Chapter hosted a webinar called "Communication is more of an art than a science". In this webinar Marcus Udokang, aka "The Inquisitive BA" shared why communication is important for BAs. As BA's connect business and IT, they play a key role in engaging stakeholders. In order to engage stakeholders, Marcus recommends the stakeholder engagement model that consists of 4 phases: 

1. Unawareness
2. Understanding
3. Acceptance
4. Commitment

Being aware of the four phases that stakeholders go through in changing environments helps BA's to communicate to stakeholders and engage them more effectively. 

Other ways to be more effective in your communication are

• Face2face communication
• Pay attention to non-verbal communication
• Stay on topic
• Be culturally aware
